In the last decade, Kitesurfing has become a popular must-do for the avid thrill-seeker touring Sri Lanka. Start kiting in paradise and you won’t be able to stop!

This water activity is a spectacular mix of flying and surfing and requires a confident skillset, however, if you are a beginner and don’t know where to start, Sri Lanka is the place to get acquainted with learning the kitesurfing ropes. KalpitiyaLagoon is perfect for wave riding, freestyle and beginner riders.

The Puttalam Lagoon provides camping trips and Downwind whilst the village of Kalpitiya in the west coast of the country has an amazing Hotel and Kiteschool (Lagoon, Flatwater and Waves).

The kitesurfing season starts roughly around May and lasts till the beginning of autumn. The wind during this time is 18-20 knots so your bound to enjoy some top-notch kitesurfing.

Head to the south of Sri Lanka and enjoy the azure waters of Ahangama-Kabalana. Or Mirissa Bay, yet another place that draws kite surfers from all over the globe.

Two Kappalady lagoons have smaller winds and relatively calm waters, which are perfect for kite surfers of all levels.

Wave riding in the Laccadive Sea is a real treat for all thrill-seekers. You can also enjoy some seafood hunting out in the open.
